I’m back!

I’ve been missing (again) these last weeks, but I have a good reason, I promise! I just got back from a great vacation in Chicago and I can’t wait to tell you all about it. I’m still jet-lagged, and have to finish my Master Thesis (the final version is due next week) so here are a few pics from Chicago!

Our suite at the Palmer House Hilton (they upgraded us, and treated us very nicely!)

In one of the hotel’s ballrooms

At the Crown fountain in Millenium Park

Taking a picture of ourselves at “the bean”

Jumping around the Pritzker Pavilion (which looks very similar to the Guggenheim here in Bilbao)

Under a 26-foot-tall Marilyn

Taking a river cruise

We also tried out the stuffed pizza at Giordano’s

and wandered around the Federal Plaza’s Farmers’ Market

At the Medici in Hyde Park

Strolled around the Robie House before heading out to…

… the Science and Industry Museum

The next day we had a great meal at Rick Bayless’ Frontera Grill (this is the cherry and chocolate turnover, which was delicious and I think has earned the spot of my #1 favorite dessert, displacing their classic chocolate pecan pie)

The Water Tower at night

    I. Love. Chicago.

If it weren’t so stinking cold in the winter I might just pack up and move there. Probably the hubs would say no, though.

We had a single day in Chicago in July and did a lot of the same things you did! I want to take a full weekend getaway there soon (maybe even in winter so the hubs can play in the snow). Glad you’re back! Good luck with the thesis!

I love it, too! I was actually born there (lived in Hyde Park), but didn’t go back until I was 16 or so. I’ve been four times in the last six years! Only one of them was in the winter though, and it was freezing cold!

Yes! I actually saw her update and realized it right away. It’s funny because I loved the mirror in our room but no one else did; and then when I saw it at Centsational Girl’s I realized I don’t have bad taste after all :)

Oh what a fun trip you had! I’ve only driven through Chicago, and once stopped for a whirl-wind wedding- but have never really got to spend any time there. I must put it at the top of my list. Even if for no other reason than to get that cherry and chocolate turnover! ha! Glad to have you back though. And good luck on that thesis!

Yes, it was an awesome trip! I have so much to tell I don’t know where to start.

The skirt is actually a gift from my mom, but she got it at Abercrombie & Fitch on sale for $17. When I was in Chicago there were still a lot of them left, actually!
