We’ve been busy with work, school, and painting the board & batten treatment lately, plus we’ve decided it’s time to install a drying rack – we’ve already been living here for more than two years! – so until I have before & after pictures of those projects, I’d like to share a french dessert that looks fancy (and is expensive) but it’s very easy to make: canelés!

The recipe I’d like to share is from Cannelle et Vanille – whose author, Aran, is originally from the Basque Country, where I live – and it’s one of the few recipes I’ve found that I hadn’t had the urge to tweak, because the cannelés turn out perfect. For that reason, I encourage you to check it out in her blog. My favorite ones are the traditional cannelés, the Caneles Bordelais. I hope you give it a try! I think they would make a perfect gift for Christmas, set in a cute bowl and wrapped in a nice dish towel.

I love canelés. They are really good and so easy to bake.
Traditionally they are baked in copper molds, but silicone molds work very well.
I especially like them in mini size. They are so cute!
Yes, I bake them in silicone molds. And mini sized are the best!
i really wanna try that.
neat website btw.
Thanks! Glad you like it.
Okay, I’ll admit that I had to look up what a Canelé was, but now that I have I really want to make these!
Yay! You should really try them. I wasn’t a huge fan of them at first, actually, but now I love them
