I’ve had a busier than normal week as we try to catch up on wedding stuff. On Wednesday we had some friends over and we worked on some crafts for the wedding, and then yesterday we ran around the area trying to buy all the glasses/plates/stuff we need and doing more wedding errands, so here’s a super quick and easy appetizer idea for ya. They’re very typical in Bilbao and they’re called Gildas: anchovies, olives and green chilis on a stick. I know a lot of people don’t like anchovies, but in this case, they only give the appetizer a salty edge – so even if you don’t like them you might like this.
Gildas
- Small green chills, without the stem
- Anchovies
- Green pitted olives
Stick one green chili, the anchovy (folded), an olive and another chili per stick. Arrange them in a platter, they make great party food”
Have a great weekend everyone! Any exciting plans?

My husband would like these; he loves anchovies.
This weekend we are having our second baby shower! Yippee…more cute baby stuff!
He’ll definitely love them then. I hope you had a great shower!
Anchovies? That word kind of scares me when it comes to food haha! However, it looks delicious thanks to your wonderful food photography!
Haha, yeah, they’re not my favorite either, but this is a very typical appetizer here so I had to share!
