Even though organization is my number 1 goal for the year, I don’t think I’ve blogged about it a whole lot. We still have to tackle the super-secret storage room and the master closet, but since the storage room acts as a dump for all things wedding related and I have plans to buy clothes during our honeymoon, I thought it would be best if we left those until we come back.
The master vanity, though, was driving me crazy in its disorganized state, so I decided to tackle that yesterday. The bottom drawer was pretty organized already (since it basically holds toilet paper, the spare set of towels for that bath, and an out-of-town toilet necessities bag) but the top one was a mess:

No, this photo was not staged to make it look messier. I keep extra plastic bags for the bathroom trash can in there and they were getting out of control. This was completely my fault, given that the only things that aren’t mine are some shaving stuff and a deodorant… anyway, like any good organization project, the first step was to empty everything and give the drawer a good wipe down.

Then I took advantage of the drawer dividers that came with the vanity and other organization baskets I already had on hand. In a matter of ten minutes, everything was looking much better!

The left side (top side in the pic) holds the hair dryer and iron, plus shaving stuff. I’ve used the middle to house all the things we buy in bulk – since stuff like toothpaste and shampoo are periodically on sale for 50% off, we try to only buy them in bulk when they’re cheaper so we save on those necessities. The right, front side holds the things I use on an almost-daily basis, and the back is the stuff I use less often (can you tell my sink is the one on the right?).

My inner organization-freak is very pleased with the new setup of the drawer. Hopefully it’ll last! Oh and since we’re on the subject of the master bathroom, I wanted to point out a couple of other things we did since the big vanity revamp. We’ve added a hook for a towel on the left side, plus a magnifying mirror. Only two or three things to go until the bathroom is completely done.
What about you guys? Have you been organizing your apartment/house lately? Is it just me that still sees September as a fresh start conducive to big organization projects?

We need to do this in our master bath as well! Thanks for the motivation!
There are plans in the works to do something with the back bedroom, but we’re still waiting on Joe’s sister to pick up her fine china (I don’t feel comfortable enough moving it around). Hopefully soon!
I am waiting until I have a free weekend to just go crazy at my house with purging things and setting up organization systems. I am not looking forward to it but can’t wait to have it done. My mom is planning a yard sale at her place in 2 weeks so I am hoping that will motivate me to get this done so I can sell some of our things!
Your vanity is awesome and the drawers look great! I’m sure it’s so much nicer to use things from there now.
I definitely need to work on this. Our house is pretty organized since we just moved in a few months ago, but just because it’s all in the right place doesn’t mean that spot is tidy
Our bathroom is a mess! I desperately need to figure out a better way to organize everything. Maybe this will get me movin’!
