Welcome to A Little Bite of Everything! My name is Ainhoa and the one next to me is my husband Andoni. We moved in together in October of 2009  when we bought our apartment in Urduliz, a small town in the north of Spain, and got married in September 2012. I’m 24 years old and I finished college with a degree in Economics. I’m still studying Economics, but for a Master’s degree now a PhD now. I first started blogging when I went to New York in 2007 for an intensive summer course on Interior Design and I realized that I loved creating websites, so I continued writing about the things I love to do – cooking, baking, and traveling. Since we bought our apartment three years ago, I’ve also taken on a lot of DIY projects together with Andoni. Although I’m the one who writes on the blog, we both actively work on projects and recipes together. I hope you’ll enjoy my (our) little space on the internet as much as I enjoy working on it.

Wait, that was a bit short. Here’s the (slightly) longer version.

I was born in Chicago while my dad was working there. A couple of years later, we moved back to Spain, first to Madrid and then a few years later to the Bilbao area, where my mom’s side of the family is from. I’ve lived here ever since, but every summer for quite a few years, we went to the US for several weeks. I’ve also been in school there a few months at a time, once in Santa Barbara and twice in Princeton. At the time I didn’t want to go, but now I have to recognize it allowed me to learn English easily, which is something a lot of people struggle with here.

After graduating High School in 2006 I went to college to study Economics. A year later, I spent a whole month in New York studying an Interior Design course at Parsons, thanks to an award I received from the Basque Government. That’s when I first started blogging, in Spanish though. It was a way to keep a journal of what I did in NY. Shortly after I came back from my trip I met my now husband Andoni through mutual friends, and we’ve been together pretty much ever since. Approximately two years after we started dating we bought our current home, a 750sq feet (70 m2) apartment with a 1000sq feet (100 m2) patio. Yeah, the patio totally takes the cake.

And after two years of living together, we decided to get married! Our wedding took place September 7th 2012. In the meantime, I’ve continued to study Economics, first for a Masters degree and now for my PhD. I’m currently on the second year of the writing stage, and next August I’ll be moving to Boston for a few months to continue with my dissertation there. I hope you enjoy the blog and that you’ll follow along for the ride!

I ADORE your blog. My goodness do we have similar taste in cooking, decor, crafts, and IKEA! You new kitchen is absolutely incredible; as a vertically challenged cook in a dimensionally changed kitchen, I am inspired by your IKEA solutions. I am excited to hear more about your cooking and decorating adventures. I follow YHL and have been re-decorating like crazy in budget-friendly ways : )

I am also in such debate on what DSLR to purchase, and have heard good things about the T2i. Are you happy with it? I want something better for my food photos than my 7 pixel sony cybershot!

Thank you so much for kind comment. I am extremely happy with my camera although I haven’t had the time to learn much yet. Hopefully that will change since I’m taking a 4h photography lesson this Friday! I knew I wanted a Canon because I LOVE my older compact camera, and I chose this model instead of the older one because it also records very nice video footage, something that was a nice bonus.

I ran across your blog today, and I have really enjoyed it! I also love cooking and traveling not to mention design and blog hopping!
My mother is French and I started school in France (many years ago!) Unfortunately, I haven’t been back since 2000 :(
I look forward to reading more of your blog!

I discovered your blog today while looking for a chocolate chestnut cake recipe. It’s just about ready to come out of the oven. I live in Canada but am married to a lovely Spanish man who is from a small village just outside of San Sebastián. We are actually visiting there in 2 weeks so will be flying into Bilbao. Sometimes the world seems vert small! I’m. Looking forward to reading more of your blog. Tandi
